Why is the country called New Zealand? Because, besides being famous for its beauty, the land is also well known for it's "Zeal". Zeal is the enthusiasm and passion that New Zealanders are famous for. In sports, education, and in many fields they truly excel. Well, that is what I belief anyway. According to history the name comes from the Dutch "Nieuw Zeeland" (Zeeland a town in Holland). The Maori name is Aotearoa (Land of the Long White Cloud).
Why do so many overseas students study in New Zealand?
New Zealand is a beautiful country with glacial mountains, fast-flowing rivers, deep, clear lakes, geysers and boiling mud. There are also abundant forest reserves, long, deserted beaches and a variety of fauna, like the kiwi, abound. The people have a rich culture that blends European and Maori ancestry. They are a resourceful people, and very friendly. New Zealand is a wonderful place to study and offers many advantages to overseas students.
